How Setting Goals Can Lead to a Healthier Life

Many of us set out to achieve a healthier lifestyle, whether it be to exercise more or to eat healthier. While these things are very achievable, it may be difficult to make progress when life gets in the way. Setting goals is a great way to achieve what you want in the long run, and we came up with some tips to help you in all of your endeavors!

S – Specific: Make your goal clear and specific rather than general. This can make it easier to plan out the exact small steps that are needed to obtain it.

M – Measurable: Measure out your goals by deciding what to do on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Breaking your goal into many smaller ones makes it easier to achieve.

A – Achievable: If you make your goal too difficult or large right off the bat, it will be easy to give up and not stick with it. Make sure that your goals are attainable.

R – Realistic: Make sure that what you need to reach your goal is realistic to your lifestyle. For example, if you work twelve hours a day and you are training for a marathon, it may be difficult for you to complete.

T – Timely: Make sure that you schedule hours into your schedule for your goal rather than having intentions.

Documenting your successes helps us to see how far we’ve come and it a great reminder to never give up on our goals. Think of this analogy: if you want to take 10,000 steps in one day, you have to take it step by step. Keep track of your small steps so that it can lead you to your bigger goal.
